The Bud Babes are an international, multi cultural group of exceptional women. Hailing from all over the globe the Bud Babes find common ground in their determination to speak out and stand up for all people whose lives are improved through their use of Cannabis. We find through even cursory examination of scientific medical information that Cannabis not only has highly effective and tremendously varied medical applications, without harmful side effects, but that those who oppose its medical use are arbitrary, insincere, and injurious. We also note that Cannabis has been used medically, sacramentally ,and recreationally by human beings, in every human culture, since perhaps the very inception of human consciousness. Our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids that bind to receptors in the brain. Our brain is designed on a basic biological level to respond to the presence of Cannabis and to activate certain receptors in it's presence. Sacramental use of Cannabis predates recorded history, and the Constitution of the United States of America guaranties the free practice of religion. Sacramental use of Cannabis is protected by the Constitution, the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and the recent Supreme Court rulings that affirm The Ayahuasca Church's sacramental use of the hallucinogen Dimethyltryptamine, that has no known medical value. The recreational use of Cannabis is in every way preferable to the available alternatives.

Alcohol, which kills every cell it contacts, is legal and available in every store, gas station, restaurant, and retail outlet of any kind in the United States. Yet alcohol is highly addictive, presents a multitude of health risks, and kills thousands of people in the U.S. each week. Tobacco kills 435,000 people in the US annually and its farmers are increasing acres planted. The hypocrisy that characterizes the prohibition of Cannabis and the enforcement efforts directed against otherwise productive, law abiding citizens of California, and other states, is staggering and confounding. If there were compelling reasons to protect the American public from a dangerous, addictive, harmful substance, with no medical value, that was responsible for hundreds of thousands of annual deaths here and abroad, then Alcoholic beverages and Tobacco would be illegal. It is indeed interesting that in the absence of any scientific or other evidence disproving the rafts of scientific studies showing the benefits of Cannabis that officials fall back on the same propaganda tactics used in the 1930's when Cannabis, or Indian hemp,under the demonized name of "marijuana", was first taxed then outlawed. This strategy relies on misinformation, prejudice and fear. But we know the truth and the truth has set us free. Free to act without fear, free to publish the truth and free to cast light on the dark and dastardly forces that benefit from the unlawful, ridiculous, hypocritical and unconscionable prohibition of Cannabis.
